Nashville, Tennessee – Nissan North America Inc. has announced it will increase production of the Altima at its facility in Canton, Mississippi to meet consumer demand. An additional shift of production will be added to the car system at the plant.

The company reported record sales of 34,428 units for the Altima sedan, hybrid and coupe in May, up 38.3 per cent versus the previous year.

Workers currently on Canton’s truck system will move to the new afternoon shift for Altima; the truck system will move to one shift. The plant produces the Titan pickup truck, Quest minivan, and Armada and Infiniti QX56 full-size SUVs. Work schedules will also be adjusted at Nissan’s assembly plant in Decherd, Tennessee, which produces powertrains for the Canton plant.
