Auburn Hills, Michigan – Chrysler LLC’s Mopar division has announced that it will launch Uconnect Web, an in-vehicle wireless Internet connectivity for Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge consumers in the U.S. The system will be available in August as a dealer-installed Mopar accessory.

Uconnect Web provides high-speed data transfer, combining WiFi and 3G connectivity, and transforms the vehicle into a mobile “hot spot” for unlimited and uninterrupted Internet connectivity for all passengers in and around the vehicle wherever cellular service is available. The “hot spot” connection radius is approximately 100 feet (30.5 metres).

The system enables all vehicle passengers to simultaneously connect with WiFi-enabled devices, such as a laptop, iPhone, Sony Playstation or PDA to access the Internet, view streaming movies or television shows, download music, download or upload images, and play online games.

The suggested retail price of the router is US$449; dealer installation is approximately US$35 to $50, while the Internet account service is US$29 a month with a one-time US$35 service activation fee.
