Volkswagen looks at 2028 models

Wolfsburg, Germany – Volkswagen has launched a new website that it said offers “an insight into the automotive world of tomorrow”, looking at such things as vehicles communicating with traffic lights, emission-free vehicles and whether there will be traffic jams. The site, in English and German, can be accessed at Volkswagen2028.com.

The site centres on a short interactive film, set in 2028, in which a father tells his son about the automotive world of 20 years ago, while the present-day viewer can select numerous links to look at the automotive future. Developers and designers from Volkswagen Research explain the vision of tomorrow’s automotive world, including insights into today’s technological approaches aimed at paving the way for a sustainable future.

“Our designers and developers have created three innovative vehicle concepts exclusively for this ‘Webspecial’ in order to illustrate the automotive world of tomorrow,” said Jochen Sengpiehl, head of marketing, Volkswagen Passenger Cars. “We have called them One, Ego and Room. They give an idea of the shape that our visions of the future could take. They demonstrate how the cars of the future can communicate with traffic lights, how holographic displays in the cockpit can assist the driver and how we can generate even more driving pleasure and still keep our cars emission-free.”
