BMW reveals refreshed 2009 3 Series, new diesel model
Whitby, Ontario - BMW Canada has revealed the refreshed 2009 3 Series lineup, including a new diesel model, the 335d. The 2009 3 Series sedan and Touring (wagon) will offer revised styling, safety enhancements, and a revised interior.
2009 highlights include:
- revised styling with a wider stance, a new front apron that features larger air inlets, two new character lines in the hood, revised headlamps, lowered rear apron, larger L-shaped taillights with LED technology, and a streamlined trunk.
- revised interior with new generation iDrive (available as part of the optional Navigation Package) that features an industry-leading 22 cm (8.8 inch) wide Control Display, a new
internal hard drive with a storage capacity of 80 GB, new chrome trim on controls, revised armrest ergonomics, and a larger storage compartment in the central console to facilitate external audio devices. - new active head restraints for the front seats
- a new high-performance 3.0-litre straight-six diesel engine with Variable Twin
Turbos with BluePerformance that features Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology
with urea injection to reduce nitrogen oxides (NOX) to ensure full compliance with Canadian emission standards. The diesel engine has an output of 265 hp and peak torque of 425 lb-ft.
Apart from the new diesel model, the Canadian 2009 BMW 3 Series Sedan and 3 Series Touring lineup will continue to include the 323i, 328i, 328xi, 328xi Touring, 335i, and 335xi models with powertrains unchanged.
The 2009 3 Series will premiere at the Paris Auto Show in October and go on sale in Canada this Fall. Pricing and specifications will be available closer to the Canadian market launch.
