Nissan and Tennessee partner on zero emissions

Nashville, Tennessee – The Renault-Nissan Alliance has announced that Nissan and the State of Tennessee are forming a partnership to promote zero-emission vehicles, including electric vehicles, in Middle Tennessee. The project will include participation from the Tennessee Valley Authority and other partners.

Nissan president and CEO Carlos Ghosn made the announcement during the dedication of Nissan Americas, a newly-completed building in Franklin that will headquarter the company’s operations for North America.

“Through the Tennessee project, consumers will soon be able to drive vehicles that deliver true sustainable mobility,” Ghosn said. “The state, along with other partners, are to be commended for stepping up to meet the challenge of creating the conditions to make zero-emission vehicles a viable and compelling choice for consumers.”

Tennessee governor Phil Bredesen, who signed the agreement, has agreed to explore strategies in which the state might help support the deployment of infrastructure for electric vehicles, including public charging stations.

The Renault-Nissan Alliance has also begun zero-emission vehicle initiatives in Israel, Denmark and Portugal.
