Atlanta, Georgia – Porsche has introduced two new 2009 911 Targa models that will be available in Canada in October. The Targa models are based on the new-generation Carrera coupes and cabriolets that were recently introduced.

The 911 Targa’s most striking feature is its 16.5-square-foot two-piece glass roof, with a sliding roof at the front and tailgate at the rear. The roof slides beneath the tailgate in seven seconds, opening up almost five square feet of open space above the passenger cabin. The roof comes standard with a new power-operated sunblind that covers the entire area of the sliding roof when closed.

Other new features include a touchscreen for the audio system, optional hard disc-drive navigation system, and optional XM satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity, iPod port, USB port and auxilary jack.

The new models include the 911 Targa 4, with 3.6-litre six-cylinder engine developing 345 horsepower, and the 3.8-litre 911 Targa 4S, which develops 385 horsepower. A new seven-speed double-clutch gearbox replaces the optional Tiptronic S automatic transmission, while the electronically-controlled Porsche Traction Management system replaces the former all-wheel drive.

The models will retail in Canada for $111,600 for the Targa 4, and $124,500 for the Targa 4S.
