Ford Flex achieves 5-star safety rating

Dearborn, Michigan – The Ontario-built 2009 Ford Flex has earned the top five-star rating for frontal and side impact crashworthiness, following testing by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The tests also include four-star rollover ratings for both front- and all-wheel drive versions.

“The five-star ratings for the Flex are evidence of Ford’s overall safety commitment,” said Susan Cischke, Ford’s senior vice-president of Sustainability, Environment and Safety Engineering. “In fact, we have produced more five-star-rated vehicles than any other automaker.”

The Flex includes standard side curtain airbags, four-wheel anti-lock brakes, AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, and tire pressure monitoring system. The vehicle also has lightweight, aluminum-coated boron steel in its body structure, including high-strength steel in the B-pillars.
