Woodward Cruise announces NextCruise

Pleasant Ridge, Michigan – The Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit, Michigan will present the 2008 Inaugural NextCruise on August 15-16, when more than 30 of the latest environmentally-friendly and future-looking vehicles from nine auto manufacturers will be available for viewing, and in some cases, for riding in or driving. In addition, two “Green” race series will provide rides, driving simulators and autograph opportunities with a driver.

“Auto manufacturers have been remarkably receptive to the chance to participate in an event that brings an environmentally friendly and future-looking dimension to the Woodward Dream Cruise,” said Paul Eisenstein, NextCruise chairman. “The public will have an unprecedented opportunity to engage the manufacturers in a dialog on the latest green technologies and to take a short ride or drive in Pleasant Ridge’s beautiful streets.”

The displays will include hydrogen-powered vehicles from BMW, Ford and Chevrolet; hybrids from Chevrolet, Ford, Chrysler, Toyota and Nissan; clean diesels from Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Jeep and Bosch; engine and tire displays by General Motors and Bridgestone; and such vehicles as the Chrysler GEM, Chevrolet Corvette Indy Pace Car E85 Z06, and the Volkswagen Tiguan.

The event will take place in Pleasant Ridge’s Memorial Park, on Woodward Avenue immediately south of the I-696 interchange. Ford-supplied hydrogen-powered shuttle buses will provide transportation between the NextCruise and parking on the east side of Pleasant Ridge. For more information, visit NextCruise.
