Ontario Provincial Police officer moves to news

Toronto, Ontario - Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) sergeant Cam Woolley, well known to the province’s drivers as a spokesman for safety, has announced he will retire from the force after 30 years of service and join Toronto news channel CP24 as its new Traffic and Safety Specialist.

Woolley will join CP24’s on-air team beginning September 2, immediately following his final Labour Day road safety blitz.

“It’s hard to believe I’ve found a second career that lets me talk even more than I do right now,” Woolley said. “There are dozens of commuting stories that break on Toronto’s roads every day, and I can’t wait to join CP24 and be on the other side of the microphone, helping folks to get to and from home more safely.”

Over the years, Woolley has received recognition from numerous organizations for his role in bringing traffic safety issues into the media spotlight, promoting public awareness on such issues as bad drivers on holiday weekends, street racing, highway design problems, fatigue, seatbelts and drunk driving. He has also been the OPP’s lead investigator on many high-profile fatal motor vehicle collisions involving unsafe big rigs and hit-and-runs.
