GM crossovers earn IIHS Top Safety Pick

Arlington, Virginia – General Motors’ line-up of crossover vehicles has been named a Top Safety Pick by the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The results apply to the GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave, Saturn Outlook, and upcoming Chevrolet Traverse.

The award is given to vehicles that meet the IIHS’ highest rating in front, side and rear crash tests, and have electronic stability control.

“The Acadia aced our front, side and rear crash tests,” said IIHS president Adrian Lund. “While affording buyers state-of-the-art crash protection, the Acadia also includes standard electronic stability control, which safety research shows can help keep drivers out of some crashes altogether.”

The crossover line-up has also earned the highest rating of five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for driver and front passenger in frontal crash tests, and for the driver and rear passenger in side tests.
