Mazda to showcase urban compact concept in Paris

Hiroshima, Japan – Mazda will display its Kiyora, a lightweight, next-generation urban compact car in October at the 2008 Paris International Motor Show. The company will also show the facelifted MX-5, and new diesel engines in the Mazda6 and Mazda2.

Kiyora, meaning “clean and pure” in Japanese, represents the harmony between driving pleasure and environmental safety features, the company said. Designers imagined a city car cutting cleanly through an urban landscape, with water as the design theme.

The Kiyora is equipped with Mazda’s next-generation four-cylinder direct injection engine and the company’s Smart Idle Stop System for fuel economy and low CO2 emissions. It is based on an all-new platform designed to maximize weight reduction and a high level of safety.
