Detroit, Michigan – General Motors has announced that it is exploring a potential sale of ACDelco, its global independent aftermarket parts business. The company said that a sale is expected to promote more rapid growth of ACDelco globally.

In July, GM announced that it will undertake a number of initiatives to bolster its liquidity by approximately US$15 billion through year-end 2009, including the sale of assets. The company previously announced its intention to sell the Hummer brand, and its technical and manufacturing centre in Strasbourg, France.

ACDelco provides maintenance and repair parts and associated services for both GM and non-GM vehicles in more than 100 countries; it is headquartered in Grand Blanc, Michigan and has approximately 600 employees worldwide.
