Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario – The winners of the 25th Automotive Journalism Awards, all members of the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC), were announced on Thursday evening. AJAC is an association of professional journalists, writers and photographers whose focus is the automobile and the automotive industry.

The AJAC Journalist of the Year award, sponsored by Jaguar/Land Rover Canada, was won by Jeremy Cato of the Globe & Mail. Runner-up was Angela Forgeron of MSN Autos Canada, and third place went to Annette McLeod of Sun Media.

The Wakefield Castrol-Chinthe Award for vehicle test drives was won by Peter Bleakney of the Toronto Star. Second place went to Michael Bettencourt of MSN Autos Canada, and third place to Ted Laturnus of the Globe & Mail. A second Wakefield Castrol-Chinthe Award for technical articles was won by Michael Bettencourt of the Globe & Mail. Second place went to Jeremy Cato also of the Globe & Mail, and third spot was earned by Antoine Joubert of Autonet.ca .

The Julie Wilkinson Motorsport Award, presented by Bridgestone-Firestone, was awarded to Jeremy Cato of the Globe & Mail, and the runner-up was Derek McNaughton of the Ottawa Citizen.

The Volvo Award for Environmental Journalism was awarded to Jeremy Sinek of World of Wheels magazine and second place went to Lesley Wimbush of Autonet.ca and Sun Media.

The Mitsubishi Design and Layout award for print publications was won by the Toronto Star Wheels section, while the web site award went to Globeauto.ca .

The Car Care Canada Award for car safety journalism was won by Jil McIntosh of the Toronto Star.

First place in the Pirelli Photography Award for published photos was won by Amee Reehal of Modified Luxury and Exotics magazine. Second place was awarded to Russell Purcell of RPM magazine, and Third place went to Justin Pritchard of 53 North Magazine. Pirelli’s awards for unpublished photos were given to Amee Reehal of Modified Luxury and Exotics magazine, Brad Horn of Formula Media Group, and Brian Early of the Toronto Star Wheels section.
