Nissan Canada to introduce budget-priced Versa sedan

Mississauga, Ontario – Nissan Canada will introduce a new budget-priced Versa sedan to the Canadian marketplace on December 1st. The 2009 Versa Sedan 1.6 has a starting MSRP of $12,498, excluding Freight and PDI charges. That’s $2,500 less than the 2008 Versa Sedan 1.8S.

The new 2009 Versa 1.6 Sedan is powered by a smaller 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine that develops 107 horsepower mated to a standard five-speed manual transmission or optional four-speed automatic, and offers up to 5.8 L/100 km on the highway. The 2009 Versa Hatchback, which starts at $13,598, will continue to offer the 122-hp 1.8-litre engine and a six-speed manual transmission with highway fuel economy of 6.3 L/100 km. The 2009 Hatchback will be available with optional four-speed automatic or continuously variable transmissions.

“Starting at $12,498, this new Versa 1.6 Sedan has the lowest MSRP in Canada, by more than $700, and is more than $1,000 lower than any four-door sedan,” said Jeff Parent, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, NCI. “But a low price is really only half the news. Nissan Canada is bringing in a full range of Versa 1.6 sedans including a base vehicle and a Value Option Package model that is unique to Canada.”

The base Versa 1.6 Sedan is equipped with six standard airbags, including front, side, and side-curtain airbags. The Value Option Package includes A/C, power windows, heated power mirrors and remote keyless entry.
