CAW donates $40,000 to Computers for Kids

Windsor, Ontario – The Canadian Auto Workers Union (CAW) has donated $40,000 to Computers for Kids, a program which refurbishes old and used computers in Windsor-Essex, Ontario. The program gives hundreds of children from low-income families the chance to learn computer skills.

The program was started in 2004 by a group of volunteers from CAW Local 200. The charity works in partnership with a number of community organizations to provide an educational opportunity to children who do not have access to such technology outside of school.

The donation is from the union’s Social Justice Fund, an employer-paid initiative first negotiated in 1990, which allows the union to fund social justice projects in Canada and around the world.
