Oshawa, Ontario - GM Canada has announced pricing for the all-new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, which will start at $26,995 for the V6 LS model, and $36,995 for the V8-powered Camaro SS.

“The Camaro is designed, engineered and executed to set a new standard in its class,” said Marc Comeau, vice-president of sales, service and marketing for GM of Canada. “Even in its base form, the eye-catching new Camaro features a sophisticated V6 powerplant which delivers spirited driving and surprisingly good fuel economy, plus a comprehensive suite of handling, safety and convenience technologies to fit the lives of today’s consumers.”

The Camaro will be offered as the V6-powered LS and LT models, and as the V8-powered SS, all with six-speed transmissions. Production is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2009 at the company’s plant in Oshawa, Ontario. Complementing the introduction will be a range of performance, appearance and convenience accessories that can be ordered and installed at dealerships, including 21-inch wheels, ground effects, stripe kits and a Hurst shifter.

The V6 models will use a 3.6-litre engine producing an estimated 300 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, with six-speed manual transmission or optional six-speed automatic. The Camaro SS uses a 6.2-litre LS3 V8, estimated at 422 horsepower and 408 lb-ft of torque, with the six-speed manual transmission, and a new 6.2-litre L99 V8 with Active Fuel Management, estimated at 400 horsepower and 395 lb-ft of torque, with the six-speed automatic transmission. Information regarding early ordering, vehicle packaging information and a specification sheet can be found at Camaro.GM.
