Long-wheelbase Audi A4 introduced in China

Ingolstadt, Germany – Audi has announced the introduction of a long-wheelbase version of its Audi A4 to the Chinese market. The A4L features a wheelbase that is 60 mm longer than the conventional model, giving rear-seat passengers more room. The new model is built at the company’s plant in Changchun, China and made its debut this week.

“The long-wheelbase version of the Audi A4 is being produced exclusively in China for the Chinese market,” said Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the Board of Management for Marketing and Sales at Audi AG. “With this premium product, we chose to go even further than elsewhere in the world to meet the requirements of our Chinese customers. Our goal is to export the success of the new Audi A4 to China. With the customized Chinese A4L, which we subjected to rigorous testing in China, we are impressively demonstrating our market leadership in China’s premium segment.”

The A4L joins the long-wheelbase A6, which Audi has offered in China since 2006. The A4L, shown at the Guangzhou Motor Show, will arrive in Chinese dealerships in January 2009.
