Los Angeles, California – Volkswagen has showcased its diesel-powered technology at the Los Angeles Auto Show, with the debut of its all-new, fifty-state-compliant Touareg V6 TDI clean diesel SUV, along with a purpose-built Volkswagen-Red Bull Baja Race Touareg TDI Trophy Truck that will run this year’s Tecate SCORE Baja 1000.

The Touareg V6 TDI is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine, producing 221 horsepower and 407 lb-ft of torque. Utilizing common rail injection and what the company calls the world’s most advanced catalytic converter system, it meets the most stringent emission requirements of California and will be available in all fifty states. It will define a completely new generation of extremely economical and low emissions SUVs, and reinforces Volkswagen’s commitment to clean diesel technology as the most sensible alternative fuel vehicle available today.

The Race Touareg TDI Trophy Truck is powered by a 5.5-litre V12 clean diesel engine that produces 550 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque. Its chassis design and production is by Arciero Miller Racing of Foothill Ranch, California, with a body designed by the Volkswagen Design Center in Santa Monica, California.
