Whitby, Ontario - BMW Group Canada has announced pricing for its new diesel models, with an MSRP of $49,700 for the 335d sedan, and $62,200 for the X5 xDrive35d.

Both models are powered by a variable twin-turbo 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder diesel engine with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) exhaust management system and diesel particulate filter. These Advanced Diesel with BluePerformance engines produce a maximum output of 265 horsepower and a peak torque of 425 lb-ft to provide sports-car-like acceleration but with new benchmarks in fuel efficiency and emission reduction in their respective classes.

Mated exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission, the engine has an acceleration time of zero to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds in the 335d sedan, and 7.4 seconds in the X5 xDrive35d. Fully compliant with stringent Canadian federal Tier2 Bin5 emissions regulations for nitrogen oxides, the engine achieves an average fuel consumption of 7.4 L/100 km in the 335d, and 9.3 L/100 km for the X5 xDrive35d.

To optimize emission management, the system incorporates an oxidation catalyst placed close to the engine, a diesel particulate filter housed in the same unit, and an SCR catalyst with urea injection, called AdBlue. The system capacity and refill range of AdBlue has been engineered to coincide with engine oil change intervals typical of normal driving. AdBlue replenishment is included in BMW’s 4 year/80,000 km standard no-charge scheduled maintenance coverage.
