Detroit, Michigan – Cadillac has announced it will unveil three new models at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January: the production versions of the 2010 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon and 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, and a Chevrolet Orlando concept car.

The CTS Sport Wagon is Cadillac’s first-ever North American wagon and will be sold in North American and international markets. It is nearly the same size as the CTS sport sedan, but almost doubles its cargo capacity.

“The dramatic design of the CTS Sport Wagon makes it a compelling alternative to SUVs and larger vehicles,” said Mark McNabb, North America vice-president of Cadillac/Premium Brands. “The CTS Sport Wagon is in synch with the changing luxury market, and it just could be the right car in the right size to spark a re-emergence of wagons in North America.”

The CTS Sport Wagon uses Cadillac’s 3.6-litre direct injection V6 engine that produces 304 horsepower and runs on regular gasoline. A 3.0-litre version will be added as the new standard engine in the summer of 2009, offering improved fuel economy, while a 2.9-litre turbodiesel engine is being developed primarily for models in European and Asian markets. The CTS Sport Wagon will also offer all-wheel drive as an option.

The 2011 Chevrolet Cruze will make its North American debut at the show, and go on sale in the first half of 2010. In North America, it will be powered by an optional new 1.4-litre turbocharged engine that is expected to deliver better fuel economy than the current leader in the segment, the Chevrolet Cobalt XFE, which the Cruze will eventually replace. Also available will be a new 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine, along with six-speed automatic and manual transmissions. The Cruze will also feature six airbags, OnStar, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, and electronic stability control with rollover sensing. Models for the North American market will be build at GM’s plant in Lordstown, Ohio, with the 1.4-litre engine built in Flint, Michigan.

The Chevrolet Orlando show car will also make its North American debut at the Detroit event. The Orlando is a compact, seven-seat multi-purpose vehicle based on the Cruze.

“The Orlando suggests a possible addition to Chevrolet’s global product portfolio, while adhering to its mission of offering value, quality and fuel efficiency,” said Ed Peper, GM North America vice-president, Chevrolet. “It offers adaptable seating, more than expected interior room, and a powerful yet economical powertrain, features that were designed to suit a variety of needs in different markets.”

The Orlando uses a 2.0-litre turbodiesel and has reconfigurable, theatre-style seating in three rows.
