Detroit, Michigan – Saab will present the premiere of the 9-5 Griffin Edition at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, with levels of premium standard equipment unprecedented in the 62-year history of the brand.

The 9-5 Griffin Edition honours the Gripen, the first of the new generation of multi-role combat aircraft to enter into active service, which was developed by Saab Aircraft AB in Sweden. The Gripen’s name is Swedish for Griffin.

Available as a four-door sedan or SportCombi model, the Griffin Edition models use a 2.3-litre, 260-horsepower four-cylinder engine with five-speed manual transmission or no-charge automatic.

Styling features include unique five-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels, matte chrome grille and headlamp frames, high-gloss interior trim, accent colour stitching, two-tone sport seats, and choice of six metallic colours. Standard equipment includes rear parking assist system and auto-dimming heated mirrors.
