Yonkers, New York - The Hyundai Genesis has outscored four competitors in recent tests to become the top-rated vehicle in the “Upscale Sedan” category by Consumer Reports. The Genesis, which achieved an “Excellent” overall road test score, now outranks 12 vehicles from Lexus, Acura, Lincoln and others.

“The Hyundai Genesis rivals high-end luxury sedans but costs considerably less,” said David Champion, Auto Test Center senior director. “Its luxurious and spacious interior and quietness far transcend its relatively modest price.”

The Genesis was tested against four new or redesigned upscale sedans: the Acura TL, Nissan Maxima, Pontiac G8 and Lincoln MKS. The TL and Maxima also earned “Excellent” overall road test scores, while the G8 and MKS earned “Very Good” overall scores. The Genesis also outscored the Lexus ES 350, Toyota Avalon, Buick Lucerne and Saab 9-5, which were tested previously.

In tests for other categories, the Jaguar XF luxury sedan received a “Very Good” overall score, but it ranked near the bottom of a group of 12 previously-tested luxury sedans. Among three-row SUVs, the Honda Pilot slipped from one of the top ratings to 11th out of 17 vehicles tested.
