Malibu, California – The Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 has been named 2009 Car of the Year by the editors of luxury lifestyle magazine Robb Report.
Now in its 16th year, the award is presented annually to an automobile whose technical designs, styling, and performance position it as the world’s preeminent sports or luxury car, the magazine’s editors said.
In order of finish, the Gallardo LP560-4 was named over the Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG, BMW M3, Porsche 911 Carrera S, Aston Martin DBS, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe, Jaguar XF, Nissan GT-R, Tesla Roadster, Bentley Brooklands, Smart Fortwo, and Iconic GTR Roadster.
“Though the Gallardo’s body styling is familiar to Italian-sports-car enthusiasts, the LP560-4’s performance is unlike anything they have experienced before from this marque, thanks to the brilliant fine tuning it has received,” said editor-in-chief Brett Anderson. “No past iterations of the Gallardo have delivered the combination of power and precision you get from this engine and four-wheel drive system.”
