Ontario launches French-language license plates

Toronto, Ontario – Ontario has launched new license plates that display the Franco-Ontarian emblem with a French-language slogan.

Plates with the Franco-Ontarian flag have been available since June 2003, but only with the English slogan, “Yours to discover.” In May 2008, the French slogan “Tant à découvrir” was introduced on standard plates. The new plates make it possible to combine both the flag and the French slogan.

The new plate is available at license issuing offices and ServiceOntario locations across the province. A standard fee of $77.75 will apply for the custom plate.

More than 580,000 Francophones live in Ontario, the largest French-speaking community in Canada outside Quebec.
