Lincoln, Alabama – Honda has begun production of the Accord V6 sedan at its plant in Lincoln, Alabama. The model was previously produced in Marysville, Ohio; the move will allow that plant to produce more four-cylinder models.
“The addition of the Accord V6 sedan in Alabama was a great challenge, but one that our associates have accomplished by working together with a single focus, to build products of the highest quality for our customers,” said Nobu Sanui, president and CEO of Honda’s Alabama operations.
The Lincoln plant now produces the Odyssey minivan, Pilot SUV, Ridgeline pickup, and the Accord V6 sedan, as well as the V6 engines that power each vehicle. The first Alabama-build Accord was a silver EX-L model.
“The quick transfer of production of the Accord V6 sedan from Ohio to Alabama in a nine-month time period is a testament to Honda’s production flexibility and confidence in our Alabama workforce,” said Church Ernest, senior vice-president. “We are honoured to add the Accord as the latest model in our production lineup.”
The Accord was first produced at the company’s Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio in 1982 and was the first Japanese-nameplate car built in the United States.
