Toronto, Ontario – Mercedes-Benz has presented the Canadian debut of the E-Class Cabriolet at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto. The new model is the latest in the company’s E-Class lineup, and will go on sale in the summer of 2010.

In keeping with the motto of “four seasons, four personalities,” the company’s developers used all-year-round suitability as a priority, and the new model provides driving pleasure and comfort whether the roof is open or closed.

The new E-Class Cabriolet includes the standard Aircap automatic draft-stop which significantly reduces turbulence inside the vehicle for all four occupants; and the modified Airscarf neck-level heating system. The fully automatic soft top can be opened and closed within 20 seconds, even when driving at speeds of up to 40 km/h, and it stores in a separate compartment from the trunk area. If the roof remains closed, the cover can be slid rearward to increase the trunk capacity by an additional 90 litres.

The E350 Cabriolet is powered by a 268-horsepower V6 producing 258 lb-ft of torque, while the E550 Cabriolet develops 382 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque from its 5.5-litre V8.

Safety features include rollover protection, A-pillars reinforced by two additional tubes and plug-in B-pillars, and the first Mercedes-Benz Cabriolet to feature head airbags.
