Honda and Civic stay on top in March sales

Richmond Hill, Ontario – The Honda Civic and Ford F-Series stayed at the top of the Canadian sales charts in March, according to industry analyst Dennis DesRosiers.

“After a radical change in the market like we saw the last two years, we would expect some radical trends to develop this year and next, and the automotive markets are not disappointing us,” DesRosiers said. He reported that subcompact car sales are down 9.8 per cent in January to March “in an energy-starved high-cost market,” while pickup trucks are up 34.6 per cent, and sports cars are the fastest-growing segment in the market this year.

The top ten best-selling cars in Canada in March were, in order, the Honda Civic, Mazda3, Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, Hyundai Accent, Toyota Matrix, Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion, Volkswagen Golf, and Nissan Sentra.

Year-to-date to the end of March, the top ten in order were the Honda Civic, Mazda3, Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, Hyundai Accent, Toyota Matrix, Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Golf, Ford Focus, and Ford Fusion.

The top ten best-selling trucks in March were, in order, the Ford F-Series, Dodge Caravan, Dodge Ram, Ford Escape, GMC Sierra, Honda CR-V, Chevrolet Silverado, Toyota RAV4, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Ford Ranger
