Richmond Hill, Ontario – The Mazda3 took the sales lead in April, selling 5,436 units to the 5,301 Honda Civics that were sold, according to industry analyst Dennis DesRosiers. The Ford F-150 retained the top spot for light trucks.

DesRosiers noted that although the April numbers were close, Mazda3 is also the bestseller year-to-date, with 17,198 sold from January to the end of April, versus 17,095 Honda Civics. Toyota Corolla is third at 13,059 units.

The top ten best-selling passenger cars in April, in order, were the Mazda3, Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, Hyundai Accent, Chevrolet Cobalt, Ford Fusion, Toyota Matrix, Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf.

Year-to-date to the end of April, the top ten were the Mazda3, Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, Hyundai Accent, Toyota Matrix, Ford Fusion, Volkswagen Golf, Toyota Yaris and Ford Focus.

The top ten best-selling light trucks in August, in order, were the Ford F-Series, Dodge Caravan, Dodge Ram, GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Silverado, Ford Escape, Hyundai Santa Fe, Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Ford Ranger.

Year-to-date to the end of April, the top ten were the Ford F-Series, Dodge Caravan, Dodge Ram, GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Silverado, Ford Escape, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota RAV4, and Ford Ranger.
