Look for noisy water pumps that may be assisted by a
specific water pump lubricant (TSB 93020, Sept. '93; B930042, Sept. '93);
listen for window glass chatters when the window is going up or down (93011,
June '93);
look for climate and driving conditions that may cause the
distributor bearing to develop excessive clearance (96022, June '96; 96015,
June '96);
a squeaking noise from the rear of the vehicle may be addressed
by placing shims between the two ruber halves of the trailing arm bushings
(90014R, Jan. '97);
listen for dashboard rattles (12/91, Dec. '91);
steering
column squeaks may be caused by a dry right rack seal which may be helped by
spraying the seal with a rust penetrant or by replacing the seal (BSN
14115/2, Sept. '90);
look for cruise control systems that will not come on
(BSN 14155/4, Sept. '90);
valve noise could be traced to unevenly torqued
cylinder heads (91018, April '91);
a security system malfunction, possibly
causing a no-start condition, may be addressed by replacing a chip in the
controller (MSG B05, May '91; 90-002, March '90);
anti-lock braking system
trouble codes may be traced to a modulator solenoid prone to leaks (87013R,
Aug. '90; BSN 14264/5, Oct. '90);
erratic automatic transmission shifts may
be traced to debris in the modulator valve sticking open, flooding the shift
solenoids (BSN 14016/4, July '90);
a leaking camshaft seal may contaminate
the timing belt and traces of the oil may be found behind the power steering
bracket (91015, Dec. '91);
a clicking noise when turning may be traced to a
worn outboard driveshaft joint (92009, April '92);
look for hatchback water
leaks (B12, May '89);
engine oil leaks may be traced to leaking oil galley
plugs (91005, April '91).
