Charities benefit from Montreal Auto Show The Montreal International Show Show (MIAS) Charity Preview evening, held January 15, helped to raise $343,305 to benefit five medical charities in Greater Montreal.

Athletes help Mitsubishi introduce new Lancer Sportback Mitsubishi's presentation of the 2009 Lancer Sportback GTS 5-Door and Lancer Sportback Ralliart 5-Door at the Montreal International Auto Show was highlighted by appearances of top Canadian amateur athletes.

Clean-diesel VW Touareg shown in Montreal Volkswagen has introduced the 2009 Touareg TDI Clean Diesel at the Montreal International Auto Show, which it said is one of the most fuel-efficient and cleanest SUVs in the world. The new model goes on sale in June. Producing 221 horsepower and 407 lb-ft of torque from its turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine, the Touareg TDI Clean Diesel fulfills the strictest emissions standards in the world.

Scion Fuse concept unveiled in Montreal Scion has made its first Canadian auto show appearance with the Fuse Sports Coupe Concept, unveiled at the 2009 Montreal International Auto Show. Toyota's Scion brand, launched in the U.S. in 2003 and aimed primarily at young and first-time buyers, will be sold in Canada beginning in 2010.

Toyota Prius and Yaris win ecoENERGY awards The Toyota Yaris and Toyota Prius have won the titles of best-in-class for fuel efficiency in the 2009 ecoENERGY for Vehicle Awards. The announcement was made at the Montreal International Auto Show.

New Subaru Forester PZEV shown in Montreal Subaru Canada has unveiled the 2010 Forester Partial Zero Emission Vehicle (PZEV) at the Montreal Auto Show. The Forester PZEV is scheduled for sale in early summer, and joins the Canadian Legacy and Outback PZEV models that debuted in Montreal a year ago.

New Mercedes-Benz GLK revealed in Montreal The new Mercedes-Benz GKL350 4Matic has premiered at the 2009 Montreal International Auto Show. The company said it is intended to conquer the midsize premium SUV segment with its powerful engine, confident presence and luxurious interior when it goes on sale early this year.

Ford unveils Fiesta small car at Montreal show Ford has unveiled its new small global car, the Fiesta, at the Montreal International Auto Show. The name will be used on the model around the world. Designed and developed in Europe for customers in Europe, Asia, South Africa, Australia and North America, the new Fiesta is the first major product of Ford's new global product development process.

Smart shows new Brabus at Montreal show The new 2009 Smart Fortwo Brabus has made its Canadian premiere appearance at the Montreal International Auto Show, en route to Canadian showrooms in February. The Brabus edition will come in two models, as a coupe or cabriolet, priced at $21,900 and $24,900 respectively.

Kia Soul, Hybrid and Koup shown in Montreal The new 2010 Kia Soul urban crossover passenger car has been unveiled at the Montreal Auto Show, alongside the new Soul Hybrid and Koup concept vehicles. In Canada, the Soul will be available with a base 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine producing 122 horsepower, or a 2.0-litre four-cylinder producing 142 horsepower.
