reducing the 2005 line-up of Vanquish and Vanquish S (for “Sport”). Changes include a new fascia console featuring new switchgear, full-colour navigation system, new audio system, and Bluetooth telephone preparation. As well, some previously optional equipment becomes standard: rear parking sensors, heated front seats, power-fold mirrors, garage door opener, and the Bluetooth preparation and satellite navigation system. The grille has been slightly modified and is more rounded and open for better cooling; the car’s aerodynamics are improved by a splitter under the nose and a redesigned trunk lid, with a high-mounted stop lamp; and brakes are larger. The price is unchanged from 2005.
The Vanquish S carries a 6.0-litre V12 that develops 520 hp and a top speed of over 321 km/h, making it the fastest road car in Aston Martin’s history. The all-alloy engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox with an auto shift manual/select shift manual electro-hydraulic control system, which can be shifted with wheel-mounted paddles. A limited-slip differential is standard.
Features include all-leather sport seats and centre console, air conditioning, six-CD changer, remote central locking system with alarm and immobilizer, tire pressure sensor, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, auto-dimming rearview mirror, battery disconnect switch, and 19-inch lightweight forged aluminum alloy wheels.
Possibly one of the world’s most beautiful cars, the Vanquish S is also an enthusiast’s dream, coddling front passengers in delightful luxury. The 2+2 configuration means that the rear seat is there mostly to use up a bit more leather upholstery rather than take on passengers. Sure, it’s expensive, but just try to tell yourself you haven’t earned it.
