An all-new model for 2009, the Chevrolet Traverse SUV is from the same family as the Buick Enclave, Saturn Outlook and GMC Acadia. It is expected to replace the Chevrolet Uplander long-wheelbase minivan and Trailblazer SUV at the end of the 2009 model year.

The Traverse uses a 3.6-litre V6 engine with six-speed automatic transmission, and is available in front- or all-wheel drive. Seating is for seven or eight passengers, depending on the model; trim lines are the LS, 1LT, 2LT, and LTZ.

Features on the LS include 17-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, automatic headlamps, OnStar with Turn-by-Turn Navigation, privacy glass, power mirrors, keyless entry, black roof rails, rear spoiler, black moldings, intermittent front and rear wipers, front centre console, cruise control, floor mats, LED reading lamps, driver's express-down window, CD/MP3 stereo, XM satellite radio, tilt and telescopic wheel, cloth seats, second-row Smart Slide 60/40 flat-folding split bench seat, and 60/40 split third-row bench seat.

The 1LT adds 18-inch alloy wheels, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals and spotter mirror, body-colour mouldings, driver information centre, outside temperature gauge, compass, leather-wrapped wheel with audio controls, variable-assist power steering, and eight-way power front seats.

The 2LT adds tri-zone automatic climate control with second- and third-row controls, power liftgate, remote starter, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, garage door opener, auto-dimming rearview mirror, rear-seat audio with headphone jacks and controls, Bose premium ten-speaker audio system, and second-row Smart Slide 40/40 captain's chairs.

The LTZ adds 20-inch bright alloy wheels, dual exhaust, projector beam halogen headlamps, power-folding mirrors, express up/down driver's window, DVD-based navigation system, rearview camera, heated and cooled perforated leather eight-way power front bucket seats, and two-position driver's memory.

Depending on the model, available options include a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, sunroof, and trailer tow package.
