BMW has announced that their BMW Night Vision technology will be available in the 5 and 6 Series as of March 2006. Currently it is only available on their 7 series. BMW will be the only manufacturer to offer this innovative driver assistance system in a total of five model series. Mercedes provides a similar system available in the S-Class only, called Night View Assist.
Both systems are slightly different ….

Montreal, Quebec - The 38th edition of the Montreal International Auto Show opens to the public on January 20 and runs to January 29 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal.
Several Canadian premieres of production and concept vehicles are expected at the event, including the Audi Q7, Ford Model U and Shelby Cobra concept, 2007 Chevrolet Aveo, Lotus Elise, Toyota FJ Cruiser, Honda Fit and Nissan Versa. |

I’m back from Detroit and after a world wind tour of shows and displays I’m dead tired. I’ve never been to the Detroit show before and having a press pass for the event was a treat I will never forget. The first time is always the best……. right?
I’m going to attempt to give my impressions and a virtual tour of the show from my vantage point starting Sunday January 8th 7:00am eastern and ending Tuesday January 10th around noon. If you plan on attending the public days in the coming weeks, this could be helpful to steer you in all the right directions.

Best New Family Car over $35k Surprise! The Hyundai Azera beat a lot of the competition. Audi A3/A4, BMW 3 series, wow that is pretty impressive, a shocker for sure.

Gaydon, Warwickshire, — Land Rover’s Range Rover Sport has been crowned ‘SUV of the Year’ by BBC Top Gear at the magazine’s annual awards celebration hosted by Jeremy Clarkson.
On sale since May this year, the Range Rover Sport is enjoying a very successful start, with over 20,000 sales around the world and 11 awards to its name. This latest honour comes on the back of rigorous road tests and challenges set for the vehicle by the Top Gear team – from out-manoeuvring a high-performance military tank with laser-locking devices on the TV show, to conquering Dubai’s ‘Big Red’ sand dune in the magazine.

VOLKSWAGEN JETTA AND PASSAT NAMED “TOP SAFETY PICKS” BY THE INSURANCE INSTITUTE FOR HIGHWAY SAFETY
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has announced that the Volkswagen Jetta and Passat are “Top Safety Picks” for 2006. They earned this distinction based on their results in front and side impact tests plus their seat and head restraints that protect the neck in rear impacts.
