Ford has been attempting a turn around of sorts for the last two or three years. Starting with the Fusion, then the Edge, they have been attempting to add a little bit more style, content and pizazz to their vehicles. Last year at the Detroit autoshow they launched the new Ford Five Hundred which later became the Taurus. More…

So here I thought last week’s car had lots of toys and gizmos — the Cadillac CTS certainly did have a lot, but the new Volvo XC70 is trying to outdo it this week with safety features and toys to keep this techno-geek amused. More…

For 2008 Honda is offering the Pilot mid-size SUV in SE trim, which replaces the EX model. This is the subject of this week’s review: the 2008 Honda Pilot SE-L (L for leather). Honda Special Edition (SE) packaged models typically offer good value for the money and the Pilot SE is no different. More…

Day-by-Day Review: 2007 Chevrolet HHR Panel

I believe the saying goes, “Timing is everything.” If so, the timing of me receiving the HHR to test is a little off. This would have been the perfect vehicle in a few weeks from now when I’ll be moving; as it is, unfortunately, the HHR Panel I have this week will only be used as a commuter vehicle, but I can pretend I’m doing deliveries, I suppose. Day-by-Day Review: 2007 Jeep Wrangler Sahara

Up for review this week is the 2007 Jeep Wrangler Sahara two door 4×4 — now, that is a mouthful. This will be one tough vehicle for me to review — I know nothing about Jeeps, and admitting that is half the battle. I know a little about the Jeep brand and I can review a Grand Cherokee (and have) because it is similar to other SUVs on the road, but a Wrangler is an entirely different animal. More…

Day-by-Day Review: 2008 Toyota Highlander

Perhaps you have seen the commercials recently on TV: a man parallel parks his SUV everyday at home and has hit the same tree and neighbour’s car countless times. In comes the new SUV — a 2008 Toyota Highlander — and he no longer hits the tree or car because of the reverse sensors. More…

Day-by-Day Review: 2008 Subaru Tribeca

Hey, more déjà vu! Well not exactly — despite the similarities in colour, price and the use of the same transmission, the Tribeca is nothing like the Legacy GT Sedan I drove last week. My first impressions of the Tribeca are very positive; the interior and exterior design and build quality here are what all Subarus should be striving for. More…

Day-by-Day Review: 2007 Honda Element SC

The first model year for the Honda Element was 2003 — I remember this vividly for some reason. I remember how Honda claimed having no carpets made it easier to hose out mud and grime from camping trips, and how you could sleep in it, because the seats could be stored away against the sides. I also remember my father commenting that it looked like a bread truck from the 1940s / 50s. More…

Day-by-Day Review: 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander

Another crossover to review this week; this is a much smaller one than last week’s and from a Japanese manufacturer. It’s the new-for-2007 Mitsubishi Outlander, ready to compete against its Japanese rivals the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and Nissan X-Trail. Some other competitors for the Outlander include Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass / Patriot and, perhaps, the Pontiac Torrent and its derivatives. This market is huge in North America at the moment with some good competition. More…

Day-by-Day Review: 2007 GMC Acadia

More and more manufacturers are hitting the market with crossover SUVs these days. The minivan seems to be going the way of the dodo bird, while the crossover attempts to pick up the slack in the seven-to-eight passenger segment. Until recently, SUVs haven’t performed the task very well, with difficult rear access and horrible leg and head room, but GMC is attempting to change this with their latest vehicle. More…
