Well if you wanna pay $53K for a box on wheels, then this is for you. I'd much rather take an MDX or RX330 over this snoozer. The early 90's look just doesn't do it for me. |

Whatever floats your boat I guess. Looks like the Hummer H2 and the Jeep Grand Wagoneer had an affair. |

Designing and building vehicles must be like designing and building commercial office buildings - sometimes by the time everything gets completed, the market has changed and you can't sell/lease it. Will this be case with this new, large Jeep? |

To me it seems like another answer without a relevant question. |

Apparently Missy Elliott already has a deal with Jeep to do commercials for it. For that reason alone, it'll sell. God only knows why, but it will. |

I saw one here in Ottawa the other day and I have to say that it looked quite good in person! Certainly not something I'd buy myself (domestic, expensive, too big and gas guzzler), but if I were on the market for a Durango or Explorer/Expedition, I'd look twice at this Commander. |

The cargo space doesn't look much improved over GC. |

I like the stupid thing more and more.
At least it's upright and roomy for it's exterior dimensions, which aren't much greater than a GC's. Pricing isn't bad at all either. |

Lesley .... I find that your reviews read far too much like an advertisement for the product. The majority of the data seems lifted from Jeep's PR releases and tech specs. Really wish you would let us know what you liked, and what you disliked about the test vehicle. \
Thank you

Well, the third row seats left a lot to be desired... did I mention that? Full-time hemi means full-time paycheck (check) and there was quite a bit of head tossing going on in hill descent (I think I said that) as well as a tad bit of body roll. Other than that - I liked it a lot, and the sound system kicked a$$. |

I actually saw one on Sunday. I think was grey in colour. It doesn't look ugly ala Aztek or anything....but it isn't pretty. It does provide an outdoor rugged sort of personality. The interior was not what I expected. From looking inside, the footwells look cramped up front as the tranny tunnel looks quite large. The plastic was matte plastic and there's quite a bit of it. Not exactly $50K sort of interior. The rear doors look cramped. The space allowed for passenger feet to get in and out looks limited....like an old Land Rover Discovery. Being 10K cheaper than the LR3 and offering just as much off road capability....it looks like a bargain on paper. But if I needed a $50K SUV to off roading in, the Toyota 4Runner, Nissan Pathfinder would come to mind first....and the XTerra would also be of consideration....with $20K left in the pocket. |

Hey Lesley, didn't make the connection that you were the author! Cool you're checking in!
Thanks for the insight on the Commander. I've seen two on the highway and that's all thus far. Looked much better in person. |

I would agree that the Commander looks better in the real than in photos. Looks less "blocky" actually. |
