Yeah, every Range Rover driver really puts their RR through the paces, right?  No foo-foo Yuppies buying a Range Rover for the badge.  Nosireee, they're all "hardcore" wagon users!  Okay, what the hell is a "hardcore" wagon user?  What do we use our pleabian Subaru for?  Hauling stuff around.  Stuff like a dresser I took to Goodwill.  And big recycling bins.  Climbing gear.  Stuff like that.  I don't see why a BMW 5-series wagon wouldn't do all that stuff.  I don't need a super-duper thirsty Range Rover to do the stuff I want a wagon to do.

If I'm going to drink the gas a RR uses, I'll get something FAST like an E55 wagon.
