Day-by-Day Review: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8GT; Day 3
So the Genesis Coupe isn't the most practical sports car around, says James, but what really matters here is how the car drives. And it's in that department that this car really shines, he says.

“priced "way" under the RX-8 as it is supposed to be an affordable” Huh
The RX-8 is very affordable at $35K.

This car is supposed to be targetted at Gen-Y (eg. born after 1981 or so IIRC)...C$35K is not *that* affordable for some, you know... Tongue

I have not seen anybody under 40 driving one.

Hyundai FX45 is it?   Grin

Interestingly this is not a "SUV or SAV"...and is supposed to be a sporty coupe with no compromise on space and comfort...

Hyundai also revealed its latest concept, called the HDC9 Talus and the newest of its HCD-series of show cars. Described as "taking the sports car into the luxury arena," the Talus has a rakish, swoopy GT sport coupe shape that also rides with more ground clearance than a typical sport coupe....Eric Stoddard, the car's chief designer, said that one of the primary ideas behind the concept was to "take away some of the compromises that sports cars have." The interior is uncommonly roomy for a sport coupe, with a raked forward center stack that edges back as a center console.   Huh

I was referring to the Kabura...not the RX-8. I don't think you would have seen too many people driving the Kabura just yet!  Tongue

When will they stop making those gaping-mouthed cars...Nissan GTR, Mitsu Concept X...do they share the same concept parts bin?

Sniff Petrol’s take on the Detroit Auto Show: Smiley
SNIP....
But it wasn't all lazy and desperate thinking at Detroit. Just most of it. Dodge stunned showgoers with its new Caliber which is notable for not being horrible. However, insiders say the surprising niceness of the outside is more than compensated for by the usual rubbish interior plastics which one source claims have resulted in a severe shortage of Tic Tac boxes. SNIP.....

Is this guy even at the show?  I don't think so.  Sounds like he is sitting at home being a goof writing junk.

Ummmm the caliber will be unveiled at 9:35am tomorrow (Tuesday), WTF is this guy talking about???

I wish I had more time to post blogs / posts and stuff about the show and give opinions.  But it's 7am to 10pm then off the to hotel processing pictures for the front page of canadian driver.  I was up till 3:30am yesterday and back on the bus at 7am.

Off to bed for me!

I'm looking forward to what the new Nissan Sentra looks like. It's scheduled to be unveiled at the show.

It's been delayed for a dog's age. I'd love to see what the original design that bombed and induced drowsiness at the consumer clinics a few years ago looked like.

With the Versa and the Cube coming, what will the Sentra look like and how will it be positioned? I assume slotting between Versa and Altima, in a strictly traditional sedan bodystyle. Still, that's tight, as Versa has a decent motor and lots of interior space on it's own... along with a lower price.

Could Sentra be seriously sporty with an engine to match?

And of course, I have to try on the GTI and EOS for size.

Looking FW to seeing what the biggest Lexus will become as well.

I am looking forward it too...

In those photos the Sentra looks pretty good.

In some others it looked stubby and tall with too much ground clearance.

From Detroit, biggest delight of the show:

Scion xB.

Yeah, yeah... it's been out for a number of years, and yeah, yeah, I've seen it before. But after looking at so many of the other cars, I sat in the xB and I'm telling you it's shocking. It's just SO ROOMY, so inviting, so different, and priced so well. I just love that thing, more and more.
