You may discuss our cover story of the day in this thread....
Test Drive:
2006 Pontiac G6 GTP coupe

2006 Pontiac G6 GTP coupeA "surprisingly well-rounded coupe," the new Pontiac G6 GTP "behaves like a much more expensive car than it is," reports Laurance Yap. Likes include "eye-catching looks", "impressive highway fuel economy", and a "competitive price"; dislikes are "numb steering", "wooden-feeling brakes", and a cabin that "has a bit of a ways to go before it matches its rivals."      More...

Decent enough looking car...  but for that kind of money, I don't think Pontiac would even make my list.

Not to mention that 3.9L engine.  Honda can get 240hp out of a 2.4L 4-banger...

Again, good design.. Yesterday's technology. That car should have the 3.6L "shortstar" V-6 engine.

The S2K's 2.2L can generate 240hp...as can the 3.0L V6...but the little Accord 4 banger doesn't come close to 240hp.

The car looks pretty decent from the outside.  A little G35ish....which isn't a bad thing.  The performance seems to be OK....with good torque...241 ft/lb is a significant amount more than the Honda V6.

Like Mr. Yap says, the picture of the interior made me giggle.  Wow....there are some noticable improvements over the older GM insides but my goodness....it's got a ways to go.  Still very notchy and unfinished to me.

But the Accord engine is not tuned for performance like the S2K's is...  I would expect more horsepower out of a 3.9L V6 in what is supposed to be a sports car, myself.

The Pontiac engine is tuned for more usable torque at lower RPM's....rather than all out HP numbers.  The torque on this engine looks impressive...much more usable power for everyday driving.  This is hardly a sports car....

The G6 coupe is a looker for sure. I like the styling. Unfortunately it is just another one tossed onto the +/-250 hp front wheel drive heap. Contrary to the slogan, Pontiac is not built for drivers, unless it comes from down under.

Finally, a sport coupe from Pontiac that can compete with the imports!  I actually went and test drove one.  Performance-wise it's no firebird, but it is as entertaining as you can get with front drive, 240hp OHV engine, and GM parts-bin suspension.  Surprisingly, the 4-speed auto in manual mode is very responsive.  Center stack and console are disappointingly cheap looking.  Drop the price by $3,000 (U.S.), and this is a great deal...
