Day-by-Day Review: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8GT; Day 3
So the Genesis Coupe isn't the most practical sports car around, says James, but what really matters here is how the car drives. And it's in that department that this car really shines, he says.

Not stuck in the 80's at all, I fully recognize the progress Hyundai has made.  The Azera in my eyes is not a whole lot different than a Sonata in the looks department, actually it's less attractive because of those ugly bulges and blandness.  The top Sonata can be had for $28k and the Azera for $38k, sorry I could not justify a $10k difference for so little distinction.  The distinction between a Camry 06 or 07 and the Avalon is far greater.  The day I can afford a car in the $38k range is because I'm enjoying some kind of success in my life or everything else is paid for, granted a BMW is a different beast but people will take notice Wink

Honda and Toyota can justify selling cars for $70k+ because they've proven themselves for decades... Hyundai has been on a roll for what, 5 years now? Before that, they had doubtful reliability, terrible engines and resale values that was horrible... only in the last 5 or so years have they been more competitive with the best japenese... it might be a bit soon to offer premium vehicles, but then again, the Azera isn't a huge leap in price compared to the top Sonata... around $40k isn't considered premium by many people for such a large vehicle...

But like in any price brackets, Hyundai has fierce competition in the around $40k bracket... Avalon, TL, CTS, etc.

This thing looked darn good in person.

For sure. I drove it back in December, and it's a terrific car on the road, too. Lots of room inside.

Yes I agree, I think Hyundai has just pushed through the ceiling with this one. It is time to re-badge and come up with a luxury line.
