Day-by-Day Review: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8GT; Day 3
So the Genesis Coupe isn't the most practical sports car around, says James, but what really matters here is how the car drives. And it's in that department that this car really shines, he says.

MDX, fun stuff isn't it.  I drove a Greddy turboed Miata at 12.5 psi.  First gear, what first gear?

I didn't go too hard at launch....but when that boost hit, you really need to be on the ball as the revs shoot up very quickly.  I really liked that experience....top down....lots of power and all stock look.

August 2004 I took my V8 Miata to our local drag strip.  Broke a drive shaft U joint on my first run. Angry
Converted the RX7 diff for a Ford T-Bird diff.  This August I tried a hard launch on an empty country road.  This time I broke an axle  Shocked
The handling is very good.  I often do some canyon carving with two other Miatas.  One is turboed and the other is supercharged.  I don't have any problems keeping up with them.  The V8 torque is awesome.
Recently, the three of us were on a drive (Manning Park) when we were passed by a Boxster, as we were slowing down for highway construction.  After the construction the Boxster took off and so did we.  I was able to keep up with the Porsche through some very bumpy corners (barely, that Porsche suspension is beautiful), but my two buddies could not.  As soon as we hit the first straight-a-way I easily pulled away.
The car is set up for highway cruising, with a fairly tall rear diff ratio (3.08), so 1/4 mile times are not as fast as they could be.  I expect the car would easily do 13.5 in the quarter.

I had my first encounter on road today.  Of course, the guy illegally removed the front licence plate.

These things are damn rare, especially compared to the Mazda.  Too bad they would have been equally common if both had trunks.

There is a black one that I've seen running around Port Alberni on occasion. I still don't like the front grill treatment - with or without a plate - but it does look quite decent otherwise when the top is down. With the top up -  Tongue

Strangely, I've seen a handful of Solstices around (3 or 4 black ones and a charcoal grey one), but I haven't seen a single new MX5 on the road besides mine since last October!  I like that the MX5s are more rare in these parts.
