It should be possible to make one....  Golf TDI GLS   +  Powerbox + some new bilsteins + springs ( to get down an inch or so)  + some 17' wheels and sticky rubber

and

a badge...  ordered from your friendly American VW aftermarket parts shoppe

so gls + $4k or so   and even without the Powerbox it would still be a great car

I Agree   In a nice innocuous silver like a million other TDIs to be ignored by the police.    I'd want the xenons from a J\GTI as well please

I think that the TDI is an exceptional car and I mostly agree with CD's formal review. Note that I have only tested the car for say 30 minutes! My test car had a black interior and a sunroof.  At 5'9" I had to sit fairly high with the tilt wheel both extended a bit and at its lowest setting.

My only real concern was that I felt somewhat jammed into the front-right side of a small car (and I currently drive a Civic).  This was perhaps due to the sunroof; the A-pillar and somewhat narrow windshield and left side window. Also, at times, the mirror – parked right in the middle of the not-so-expansive windshield interfered with my view forward..

Otherwise, this is one heck of a compact car.

Another Jetta TDI article http://www.globeauto.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20060427.wwh-jetta27/GAStory/specialGlobeAuto/

For some parts, the author is off-base (the Jetta IV was double sided galvanized for rust, etc) and others bang on.
