Day-by-Day Review: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8GT; Day 3
So the Genesis Coupe isn't the most practical sports car around, says James, but what really matters here is how the car drives. And it's in that department that this car really shines, he says.

Test Drive:
2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06Acceleration, cornering, and stopping in the Z06 "will take you out of your hum-drum world and into the zone where your mind is sharp, your senses alight, your heart thumps and you've got a big grin on your face most of the time," says Senior Writer, Paul Williams.  "You could drive it off the showroom floor, down the highway, onto a racetrack, and be scary competitive," he says.    More...

I've seen a few of these new Z06's around and they do look extremely good in the flesh.  Quite a tidy package and with 500hp, it's got some muscle to back up the gnarly bark coming out the back. Never driven one, never sat in one, but I'd be pretty sure I'd buy one sight unseen if I had the $100K.

Z06 could well be the best valued performance machine in the world. You are buying $100k sports car with $200k of performance prowess. Bow Bow

I know - why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free, but JB, you could negotiate that car into your new package. Afterall you will need to get to work quicker and those long hours and new responsibilities deserve a reward. Bargain boy, bargain - especially when there wasn't money on the table. You need this for a company car. And the line forms behind me.....

It's a very impressive machine, and quite possibly one of the best bang for buck cars out there. I have only seen one and the exhaust note was amazing.  Thumbs up

I am not sure that I get Corvette. Never really have been much of a fan of the styling with the exception of the earliest models which are hands-down classic cars. However, after reading through Paul's review, I admit that it appears to be a very well put together package. I'd have to drive one to be fully convinced that it handles as good as the top RWD sports cars out of the UK, Europe or Japan though.

Something briefly touched on in the review, but not really talked about is the noise.  I've been in a couple of 2 hour roadtrips in the previous Z06, and I left with a headache both times.   The car is truely scary fast, and sticks to the ground like it has crazy glue tires - I've never been in anything that performed like this - including a 996 911.  But it is soooooo LLLLOOOOUUUUDDDDD inside the moment the revs get up at all.  Driving the car is almost abusive if you want to have fun.  I could not handle one as my daily driver - weekend fun, track car - for sure.  But not day in day out.  That said, hopefully this new Z06 plays the daily driver car better - the interior certainly looks better.

One thing Porsche seems to have down pat, top car performance with amazing street car sensibility.

Certainly not as fast by any means but V710's on my S2000 pulls 1.2G's in the corners Smiley  And is just as loud ... seriously headache and ear damage.

It did fine on the Top Gear Race track.  It's number 13 on the list and the only thing that's not a European rocket is the Ford GT.  With a MSRP of 90 000$ (no options) ... you won't find a better deal for raw performance.

I've done the convertible with fart can and no windblock and it isn't nearly as loud.  More annoying perhaps, the 3000 RPM drone is awful in Miatas with cans.  The Z06 makes me think what it must be like on a Harley - not droning, or a buzzing, downright loud.  Like working a chainsaw or jackhammer all day.  Fun for a bit, but deafening after a lot.

with such impressive reviews here, I was expecting it to be at least top 5. Cost aside.
