Day-by-Day Review: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8GT; Day 3
So the Genesis Coupe isn't the most practical sports car around, says James, but what really matters here is how the car drives. And it's in that department that this car really shines, he says.

You may discuss our cover story of the day in this thread....
Test Drive:
2006 Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6

2006 Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6Facing more modern competitors such as the BMW M Coupe, Mercedes SLK, and the upcoming Audi TT, the $62,000 Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 "can seem a bit out of its depth," says Laurance Yap.  "What people are likely to buy the Crossfire for - whether it's a standard one or an SRT6 - is the styling," he speculates, including its "toothy grille, central spline, grooved hood, big rear wing...aggressive stance, and huge wheels."      More...

I've seen the Crossfire close up, and the styling details are terrible IMO - very fussy and make the car look really cheap and tacky.  Tongue Tongue

I have seen dealers bragging ppl to buy Crossfires, by offering 10k rebate, on each one on the lot.

I Agree The whole car looks awful IMO.

Jeremy Clarkson described the rear of the Crossfire as resembling a dog squatting to take a sh!t. I cannot look at this car without laughing now.

I saw a black SRT6 a couple weeks back.  It was bland.  I'm not a big fan of the styling and shocked by the $62k pricetag.  Let me reach into my back pocket and fish out a few extra dollars so I can head on over to BMW for a nice Z4M coupe.

 ROFL

Me either now!

I actually entered a Contest to win a Crossfire SRT-6 a while back. Here's hoping I win, so I can take my dog around the block!  Wink

I have never gotten the off-colour trim around the windscreen - what is that all about???

What looks very busy today, initially found a bit of a niche fan base of people thinking that they could drive a Merc sports coupe for the price of a Chyrsler. This fan base seems to be disapating now.

A guy goes into a bar and orders a beer. As he takes a sip of his beer, he hears a tiny little voice say: "Nice tie." He looks around but sees no one. He take another sip of his beer and hears: "A nice shirt, too." Again he looks around and sees no one.

He signals the bartender over, and hesitantly explains that he's hearing voices talking to him... "Of course," smiles the bartender. "It's the peanuts -- they're complimentary."

Great Joke, too bad the rest of the post was spam.  I hear MissMiss likes PIE!

I don't like the look of the SRT-6 (tires are just too much and the rear wing ruins the lines for me), but do like the regular old Crossfires. At the discount price in the mid $30's, they are a good buy if you can fit into them and like the style (which I do). I like the chromed a-pillar and curvey trunkated rear end.

I like how it looks, personally.  Yeah, the SRT-6 is out of its league when compared to other cars of the same price, but the normal Crossfire is a much better deal.

Also, comparing MSRP to MSRP is always a bit deceiving when the Big Three are involved--they anticipate discounting their cars from day one as a sales gimmick, so the MSRP is unrealistically high.  Thus, there will always be a price advantage to going domestic if the MSRP is the same as an import.  So comparing it to other $62,000 cars isn't the best comparison, in my opinion, as the out-the-door cost of the Chrysler will be substantially lower.

The only transmission option is a five-speed automatic

THIS is what kills my interest in the Crossfire SRT-6.  Like the IS350, I just don't understand why they take away the manual transmission on the "performance" model.

Unlike the rest of Chrysler Group's SRT lineup, the hot Crossfire is powered by a 3.2-litre V6 ... how the rest of the SRT lineup (powered by Hemi V8s in the Dodge Charger and Magnum, Chrysler 300 and Jeep Grand Cherokee)

Not all SRTs are Hemis.  The Neon SRT-4 and Caliber SRT-4 are powered by turbocharged four-cylinders if I recall correctly (can't remember if it's a turbo or blower), and the Dodge Ram SRT-10 has the Viper's V-10.

SRT-4s use turbos.
I don't like regular Crossfire but do like the SRT one. Just like I like all SRT cars. Great performing vehicles at just above regular cost, what's there not to like?
SRT division is bringing power to the masses and for that I commend Chrysler.

Well, the fact that most SRT's can only be had with automatics for one. That would be the deal breaker for me.
