So the Genesis Coupe isn't the most practical sports car around, says James, but what really matters here is how the car drives. And it's in that department that this car really shines, he says.

You may discuss our cover story of the day in this thread....
Test Drive:
2007 GMC Yukon Denali

2007 GMC Yukon DenaliThe GMC Yukon Denali is redesigned for 2007 and it's big and luxurious, says Assistant Editor Jil McIntosh. It "rides more like a Cadillac sedan, and with much less body roll that I expected," she says, thanks to a new frame and improved suspension. But its third-row seating is uncomfortable, and its engine is thirsty.          More...

There's no good shots of the front end, but I've seen one in person and I must say the fron end looks odd. From a far I thought it was already customized with bling, but it turns out that that's the way it comes stock. I'm disapointed with the new Denali. If I had to choose ( and I emphisize had because I can think of many awesome cars I would rather have with the money), I much prefer the looks of the Tahoe. Not nearly has tarted up and the looks are more rugged.

"Second-row passengers have a much better time of it, with plenty of legroom"

I'd beg to differ.

Passenger space is at a premium in this vehicle.

"Maybe they thought I had a rap star in the back seat."

I don't think so.   Wink

"There's only a 26 cm-long space for cargo with the third seat upright. It can be flipped and folded by pulling a latch, but you're still left with a bulky folded seat that must be removed if you want to put any cargo there. If you want to pull the seat back up to its upright position, you've got to go into the truck, flip the second row and then pull the seatbacks up; the third row has no handles on the seatbacks, and so unless you're extremely tall and can grab them by the head restraints, you can't pull them back up while you're standing at the liftgate. "

That sounds very cumbersome....not a good thing when almost everybody and their dog can design a fold away third row.

"GM has put a lot of care into its new line of truck interiors, and it shows: this generation, including SUVs and the new generation of trucks, boasts excellent fit-and-finish and some of the best workmanship the company has turned out in years. Gaps are minimal, seat hardware is covered and everything is backlit."

I think this is the trend GM is headed, they finally understand why the Japanese have taken such chunks from their pie.

Like BB, I'm disappointed with the entire looks of this vehicle.  The Escalade and the Tahoe must have been first in line when the doled out the looks....the Yukon looks a little dialated in the pupils....more like a sh*tfaced stoner.  Even Jil couldn't come to take a picture head on....
