Test Drive:
2007 Ford F-150 King Ranch E85

2007 Ford F-150 King Ranch E85Haney Louka test-drives Ford's new F-150 with a 5.4-litre V8 capable of running on renewable ethanol fuel (E85) that comprises 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline.  The only problem, he says, is that there are only two E85 stations in the country, neither of them close to his home in Winnipeg, Manitoba.   More...

Very cheap, wee, and tiny floor mats for a vehicle costing almost $60,000. Still don't understand these fancy pants vehicles that used to be work trucks.

Pardon me but kudos to Ford for the F-150 King Rang dual fuel. The buyers of these rrucks will probably never use ethanol in their trucks, so much for reduction of GHG.
First because of the unavailability, second because their performance with ethanol is much lower than with gas so the cost would not be less to operate. People look at cost more than anything else.
If Ford was serious about the environment they would make a diesel version available. A small modern turbo diesel (3.0-4.0 litres or so) would produce as much if not more power and be a lot more efficient and less polluting than the 5.4 running on gas.

almost $60k for a truck  Shocked

and 14mpg  FOURTEEN MPG  20l/100   and    $115 to fill it up

I think I'd rather have a $4000 4th hand clunker truck and a new 328xi  on second thoughts a new 335 and have stuff delivered.

I really like the leather - it is nice and thick feeling in person, but dislike the way they've put it on the wheel.

Noticed as well those dinky floor mats. Possibly more worthless than the ones I saw in Jeeps. I actually like the design - looks like a 'welcome home' mat, but they should emboss it (raise, whatever it's called) on top of a real sized mat.

Rear seat room in the Fords is very generous, but I find the seat cushion lower than competing makers... thus lacks lower leg support.

If you simply must own a full size truck, I do believe Ford does it the job right.  Which is good, cause they really aren't a market leader in anything else.  They need the F-series...

See exhibit 1:

These people need a vehicle that can tow a horse trailer, but unlike your stereotypical full-size pickup owner, they (1) want premium interiors and lots of gadgets, and (2) have the money to afford such luxuries.  For the very rich, the Lincoln Mark LT is available.  The King Ranch is halfway there.

For the very rich, the Lincoln Mark LT is available.  The King Ranch is halfway there.

Read on Autoblog the Mark LT is outselling the Escalade EXT 2-to-1 this year.

Was kind of shocked, as I certainly don't see many LT's in my area and kind of laugh when I do. But checked Cdn sales and same is true up here.

I see the LT as subtly upscale and the Escalade is blingy.  The former would definitely appeal more to the equestrian crowd.
