2007 BMW X3 3.0siThe old BMW X3 had some serious flaws, says Assistant Editor Jil McIntosh, and she's pleased to find that the new 2007 version has addressed them all. The harsh ride is now smooth, the interior looks worth the price, and as for the driving experience, "this is a 3 Series sedan with a liftgate," she says.

How much room in the rear seat behind the drive, there is a number of car that I find uncomfortable in the rear.
You state the X3 has sport seats but in the option area it indicates it has front comfort seats. Are they the same?

Includes: Universal Garage Door Opener, Comfort Seats, (Includes lumbar support - Deletes sport seats with M Sport Package), Heated Seats Rear, Park Distance Control.

The Comfort Seats are 12 way power seats , which probably better to have for everyday driving

price as tested 64k...with tax that would be almost $75,000 for a 5 seat, compact SUV that still doesn't have a NAV system...not even close to being worth that kinda cash.

I will bet most X3s are leased, easy to fit under the $800/mth Limit Cap for expense write off. Other than that, I see no valid reason to buy one of these.

BMW should take the profits form these highly overpriced boxes to finance the production of base model enthusiast 335’s. You can lease a 335 for $800/month fer fack sakes.

I think this review would have been more informative if it included more comparisons (in useable interior room, price, and handling) to the REAL 3-Series sedan with a liftgate, the 3-Series wagon.

A real BMW enthusiast would equate harsh ride to good handling. There is only one reason why people buy/lease the X3 and it is the badge.

I would like to drive the previous X3 and MINI (over longer distance) to guage what people call 'harsh ride'. It's been said more than a few times in reference to both.

I have to admire BMW for upgrading where needed. They are truely driven.

There are so many friggin' X3s on the road I'm sure the success will continue. Pricey for its size, but not everyone needs more room, and not much out there can compare.

I would think what is harsh to one person is soft to another.  Personally I find my 6-wgn has a soft (even softer with winters) ride and wouldn't want anything softer in the future.  Now my P5 felt almost hard with its Yoko's that had a very firm sidewall. 

I've never driven a X3 but would like to see what all the fuss is about.  I'm not really into SUV/CUV's so my money would go with the 3-Touring personally.

What are these?  I saw a 335 on the weekend and all four rings around the lights were light up as it easily overtook me.  Is that it?

As the owner of a couple of 1940s vehicles with starter buttons, I always get a chuckle out of seeing them on new ones

Yes, also called angle eyes
My wife likes the X3 but not 3 touring, each to their own opinion and I have learn my wife opinion is the only one that counts ROFL

Yeah it's a lot of money, especially the 2006's and they didnt even look nearly as nice inside.  We bought the 06' XC90 over the 06' X3....But if i was comparing the 07's, I think I would choose the X3... Considering both vehicles are around the same price point and BMW comes with maintenance included whereas the XC90 doesn't.... Overall, I like it, they improved it by far


Also, when i test drove both engines on the 2006 x3 i was really impressed...it drove like my 3 series... I'd imagine the 2007 3.0si will have an ambundance of power and will be even more fun to drive than the previous X3's!
