Day-by-Day Review: 2009 Audi A3 2.0T quattro S-Line
After weeks without driving anything "sporting," James hops into the driver's seat of the lightly redesigned 2009 Audi A3. Fun indeed, and with quattro all-wheel drive and a set of winter tires, the perfect vehicle for winter time.

Test Drive:
2007 BMW X5 3.0si

2007 BMW X5 3.0siRedesigned for 2007, the BMW X5 is larger and more powerful than the model it replaces. Assistant Editor Jil McIntosh finds "several attributes in its favour", but overall, finds it heavy and ponderous, and wonders "why the X5 doesn't push my buttons" the way it does for many other writers.

A bloated, top-heavy, sluggish vehicle- quite unagile- the anti-BMW, if you will. Popular and no doubt hugely-profitable. But NOT a BMW. Huh

Remember "The Ultimate Driving Machine"HuhHuh It ain't the X5.

IMO a 4982 pound crossover or SAV or whatever it is needs more than a 3L 6 cylinder, even if it is made by BMW. The X5, if it must be bought, necessitates the V8 engine, IMO.  Tongue

OTOH, I have not driven an X5, so I could be wrong??

Hmmm... they do put 3.0L I6s in the 730i's in Europe put the 7 might be a tad lighter than the X5.

Don't worry about power, BMW will upgrade the 3.0si to a 3.0(WRX)sTi!  ROFL
And yes, it is going to have 300HP!

Maybe the X5 will get the 3 litre diesel in 2008... that would do it...regear the transmission to take advantage of the torque.

No thanks, Lexus RX 350 if I had a choice. The X3’s and X5’s here in Sudbury spend lots of time on flatbed to the GTA because there is no dealer.

No thanks, I'd take the 5 series wagon in a second over this.

Even if those running boards got in the way, I'd have to have them. Sure I'd curse them everyday, but they look fantabulous.
