Day-by-Day Review: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8GT; Day 3
So the Genesis Coupe isn't the most practical sports car around, says James, but what really matters here is how the car drives. And it's in that department that this car really shines, he says.

You may discuss our cover story of the day in this thread....
First Drive:
2008 Porsche Cayenne

2008 Porsche CayenneIt would be easy to describe the new Cayenne as a face- lift, but those that know Porsche know that the visual impact of Porsche designs change only slightly from one generation to another, says Managing Editor, Grant Yoxon.  "The real change is often not in what the eye perceives but in what the driver experiences. Such is the case with this second generation Cayenne that introduces a host of new technology and improvements."

WoW!  Shocked Shocked $140,000 for a loaded Porsche SUV.  Smiley

In 2001, my first brand new house in NW Calgary, two-stories and 1500 sqft, was about $175,000. I coulda of mortgage that house or a Porsche SUV. That house is worth over $400,000 today, the Porsche probably slightly less than that somewhat.  Smiley

Despite its high price I see quite a few of these around town all the time.

I actually like the looks of the Cayenne and it would be on my list if a) I wanted a SUV b) I had piles of money I didn't know what to do with.

Replacing those 21 inch tires is going to hurt but I guess people that pay 100G for a SUV don't have to worry about those things.

The base V6 Cayenne seems quite affordable. Porsche is no longer so exclusive.

The look is improved, but still not great. Doesn't have to be, it's a Porsche  Tongue

Is there a black gloss plastic panel below the rear window  Huh

Is it just me or does that mud look fake? How does the top of the windshield get caked but not the bit of exposed roof right above it? I've seen a lot of muddy vehicles and I don't think I've ever seen one get so covered on the front and stay so clean on the sides. Maybe it's some aspect of Porsche aerodynamics?

It looks like caked on dirt vs wet mud.  So my assumption would be that vertical surfaces will get covered while horizontal surfaces will have the dirt blow right off.

That's what I thought too. But then why doesn't the dirt just blow off the top of the hood? You can see the marks where water has run over the fenders. Must be an unusual combination of wet and dry dirt.

I don't buy it.  Looks fake.  As Cord said, the top corner of the windshield is painted brown, whereas the roof and A-pillar two millimeters away are sparkly-clean.  Also, what little mud there is on the side doesn't match any spray distribution I've ever seen.

Wait until the Cayenne Turbo S inevitably comes out - I'm sure it will close in on 200k.   Supposedly the old Cayenne Turbo S sold in higher quantities than the "regular" Turbo even with the huge price differential.  Gotta be nice to get sort of profit margin....no wonder Porsche is so profitable.
