Day-by-Day Review: 2009 Audi A3 2.0T quattro S-Line
After weeks without driving anything "sporting," James hops into the driver's seat of the lightly redesigned 2009 Audi A3. Fun indeed, and with quattro all-wheel drive and a set of winter tires, the perfect vehicle for winter time.

Day 1:

2007 GMC Acadia SLT
More and more manufacturers are hitting the market with crossover SUVs these days.  The minivan seems to be going the way of the dodo bird, while the crossover attempts to pick up the slack in the seven-to-eight passenger segment.   Until recently, SUVs haven't performed the task very well, with difficult rear access and horrible leg and head room, but GMC is attempting to change this with their latest vehicle.  More ...

Agree with the fuel consumption comment. 5000lbs and 11.5L/100km combined just doesn't sound right.

Does the Acadia have HUD?
I have driven an Outlook , this is a large CUV, lots of room in middle row, and a tons of room with rear seats down
Have you tried the step tranny with the button on side of the shifter. A little werid but all manual autos are werid anyway

From a consumers perspective, this is the epicentre of what a CUV should be.   Kudos to GM for nailing it, IMO.

With all of the rounds that this model has made (tested by many - or at least it appears to be the same red unit they tested) it will be interesting to learn how tight it still is and the build quality.

The weight was a concern for me, but the published figures said it would be reasonable. It wasn't at first but it is getting better and I'll measure it as soon as gas prices go below a buck. Okay that may take awhile and for now I give it a $30 shot or $40 depending on the PC menu at that station.

I find it comfortable although the tranny hunt is still a problem, especially on a hill around town.  Let's see how your thoughts evolve.

11/100 is the average fuel consumption when wifey had the Highlander. I can’t imagine the Acadia matching that result. She drove the truck in Southern Ontario over the weekend and averaged an amazing 13.1/100. That GM 5.3 can be great if you are easy on the accelerator.

Does the Acadia have HUD?
One of the pictures in the gallery shows the HUD. Nice looking beast in & out. Maybe it was just the camera angle but in one of the shots the key FOB looked rather immense.

VW isn't any better (tho Audi now offers for a stiffie).

It's something I want next go-round.

How do you mean "GM has raised the bar once again on interior quality"?
I thought they had barely started with the first attempt.

Obviously you have not been inside their trucks, they keep upping themselves over and over.  The days of bashing GM over interior quality are over.
