Day-by-Day Review: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8GT; Day 3
So the Genesis Coupe isn't the most practical sports car around, says James, but what really matters here is how the car drives. And it's in that department that this car really shines, he says.

Good value from a price/feature point of view. But the car seem a bit porky to me.

Mitsu MUST replace the Galant quickly. Same goes for the Endeavor. The sales numbers speak for themselves; they are merely embarrassing.
The new Outlander and Lancer prove that Mitsu can build good cars.

Anything with a "Ralliart" tag added to the end of its name should have an available manual transmission.  I'd much rather have a Nissan Altima V6 MT or a Honda Accord V6 MT.

It's a handsome car - if it's like my Sportback, reliable, too.  Any word on it's replacement?

I hear that a Galant platform underpins a number of Mitsu and Chrysler products - is that THIS Galant or the next generation Galant?

I agree, but we're in the minority.

Real good write-up.

The good and the bad as I see it:

1) Price is good (particularly in light of the standard Nav); the otherwise "blah" interior with the cheapo gauges and wonky retro center stack is not.

2) 18" wheels are good; boat-like turning radius is not (a deal-breaker for me).  I'd rather not have to radio for the Harbor Master just to park the thing.

3) 258hp is good; needing 3.8 liters of displacement to produce it is not.  Most of its competitors feature a better specific output.

4) 258 lb.ft. of torque is good; "a festival of torque steer" is not. (definite deal-breaker for me).

5) spacious back seat is good; lack of a folding rear seat is not.

There is just way too much on the "con" side of the ledger to make this one a serious contender, IMHO.

I agree.  Much more attractive that Camry, Altima, Sonata, or Accord.  Mazda 6 is a nice looking machine though.  Mitsu needs to invoke the spirit of the Galant VR-4 when building the next generation...

Count me in as a proud member of that minority.

They also should create a biofuel out of slim-fast or gatorade - compared to the lean looking Mazda 6 (even in base 4 cyl guise), the Gallant sure does ensure you are getting the most lb of steel per $1 that the others....
